Tribological Behavior of Novel CNTs-Based Lubricant Grease in Steady-State and Fretting Sliding Conditions

The tribological behavior of novel 7.5 wt% carbon nanotube-based lubricant greases in PAO (polyalphaolefin) oil with and without 1.0 MoS2, together several other commercial such as calcium, lithium, were studied. test results showed a marked reduction frictional coefficient achieved by the CNTs based grease samples an average benefit around 30% compared to conventional greases. steady state under 1.00 GPa contact pressure mixed lubrication regime fretting best terms friction obtained Steady tests at higher 1.67 proved have lower for containing MoS2; otherwise MoS2 value CoF comparable calcium lithium greases, both boundary regime. protection against wear, considerable decrease (?60%) reference parameter was measured (NLGI 2) comparison worst ?22% grease. data indicated that our nanotube show superior properties will promising applications corresponding industry.
